New Compliance Assistance Products

OSHA has issued some new compliance assistance products, and has updated some existing ones. Resources include booklets and guidance documents, cards, fact sheets, posters, safety and health information bulletins, and web resources. Materials can be downloaded or ordered. Make sure to utilize these resources to help keep your company in compliance!

OSHA Fact Sheets

While we are on the topic of new materials, there are new fact sheets available for laboratories and shipyards on OSHA’s website—Preventing and Managing Laboratory Worker Exposure to Zika Virus and Evaluating Shipyard Competent Person Programs. Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers should be reminded that for each topic taught during a 10-hour or 30-hour outreach class, a minimum of a fact sheet should be handed out to students. An alphabetical listing of fact sheets can be found by clicking on the following link: https://www.osha.gov/pls/publications/publication.athruz?pType=Types&pID=2

New Video Release from CSB

The U.S. Chemical Safety Board (CSB) has released a new safety video about the ExxonMobil fire that occurred at the Baton Rouge Refinery. The video explains the safety issue that caused the fire, as well as how it could have been prevented. It is a great video demonstration showing the importance of safety hazard analysis and providing clear written procedures to train workers on and have them follow in the long run.
