Industrial Sewing Program
The Industrial Sewing Program prepares trainees for a career in the sewn trades, an industry that has a rich tradition in the region and is experiencing a resurgence. Sewing technicians are in HIGH demand and can make anywhere from $15/hr starting to $20-30/hr for experienced sewers. Most manufacturers are looking for sewing technicians that have some basic experience with industrial machines, so this workshop is the perfect foot-in-the-door with area manufacturers.

NC Economic Development Listening Series
The North Carolina Department of Commerce has launched the development of the state’s 2026 Comprehensive Strategic Economic Development Plan, which will guide economic growth through 2030 and is expected to be published in spring 2026. Building upon the success of the First in Talent Strategic Plan released in 2021, the 2026 Plan will focus on the state’s evolving workforce needs, regional assets, and priority industry clusters such as advanced manufacturing, life sciences, energy, aerospace, and food and beverage processing. This plan provides a strategy that will determine how North Carolina positions itself for widespread, resilient economic growth that benefits every region and every community.
