Casey Olson

Bio

Casey Olson is an Engineering Improvement Specialist with NC State University’s Industry Extension Services (IES). She partners with organizations across North Carolina, including manufacturers and local and state government agencies, to strengthen operations, develop leaders, and build cultures of continuous improvement.

Casey has a background in process engineering in manufacturing, with experience in processes such as metal stamping, SMC, welding, painting, assembly, and warehouse operations. She focuses on Training Within Industry (TWI), particularly Job Instruction and Job Relations, helping companies establish structured approaches to training and handling conflict. She also supports organizations in leveraging digital twins to document layouts and guide data-driven planning for improvements and growth.

She regularly teaches classes that focus on Lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, rapid improvement events, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis, and has led training to develop emerging leaders and drive cultural change.

Casey holds a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from NC State University and advanced training in ergonomics, Lean facilitation, DDI, and TWI. Based in Raleigh, NC, she advances the IES mission by supporting organizations across all 100 counties.
