Allison Godwin is the Program Director for Lean Six Sigma and a Lean Improvement Specialist with NC State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES). In her role at IES, she serves as a lean facilitator, coach and mentor for a variety of organizations including manufacturing, healthcare, government and service organizations. As an integral part of the IES lean six sigma team, she initiates and advances lean initiatives through her work with local, state, and national partners. Allison also leads and provides support to a variety of government and non-profit service groups throughout the state helping them to organize for success by creating a framework for operational excellence. Allison has 20+ years’ experience leading and facilitating performance improvements and advancing lean initiatives. In addition to coaching and mentoring, she also has experience coordinating and developing workforce training programs focused on managing for innovation, customer-focused excellence and creating a lean culture. Through her work with lean organizations, she has paired with change agents to improve problem solving skills, deploy lean thinking and create consistent repeatable results. Her specific focus areas include: streamlining on-boarding and administrative processes; creation of blended learning opportunities; increasing throughput for service and support functions; value stream mapping; strategic planning and deployment; creating process protocols; minimizing process variation and supporting standard work documentation for senior, mid-level and front line leadership. Godwin has a B.S. degree from NC State University and is a certified Six Sigma green belt. Allison has industry experience as a lean engineer, lean manager, production manager, training manger and global process sustainability manager. During her career in manufacturing she was responsible for helping to implement and train her workforce in the implementation of all aspects of ISO 9000, ISO 5001, ISO 14001, TS 16949, Quality Management Systems, Black Belt and Toyota Production System across multiple sites. She has certifications in Six Sigma, ISO, DDI Leadership content, DDI Success Profiles and The Culture Works-All in Culture Training. Allison is a member of American Society for Quality (ASQ) and a faculty member at Population Health Improvement Partners. Additionally, she has served as a Baldrige examiner for the North Carolina Performance Excellence Program and as an instructor for the Institute for Defense and Business DAELP and AIR-P programs.
