Mathis Electronics Inc (Mathis), an Asheville based electronics manufacturing company, celebrated obtainment of their ISO 9001:2015 Certification on November 24, 2025. Dima Kazantsev, CEO, Dennis Ivanov, Operations Manager, Moises Escobedo, Engineer, and Ana Oredain, Purchasing Manager, comprised the management team trained in ISO processes and auditing. The ISO certification required a third-party auditor. Mathis passed all audits and was awarded the ISO-9001:2105 Certification on September 24, 2025.
Also, in attendance were Chris McGraw, Regional Manager and Nora Milley, Improvement Specialist, with NC State University’s Industry Extension Services, Barbara Darby and Mark Sternal, Business Services staff of Mountain Area Workforce Development Board (MAWDB), and Ashley Swanger and Evan Bosley of Asheville Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Development Coalition for Asheville-Buncombe County. The two-year ISO implementation journey began in October 2023 when Mathis received an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Small Business Work-Based Learning Grant for $19,076 from MAWDB. These funds were made available through the NC Department of Commerce to assist small businesses with upskilling their workforce to avert layoffs and to stabilize their company for growth. Preceding this grant, Mathis received a smaller Work-Based Learning Grant of $5,824 to certify their soldering team in IPC-STD-001 for a total grant award of $24,900. The IPC credential strengthened the ISO requirements.
Mathis Electronics is excited to pursue new business across industrial equipment, the elevator sector, and other manufacturing markets that depend on advanced PCB assemblies. During a recent visit, guests toured the facility and saw firsthand the enhanced circuit board assembly capabilities made possible by newly acquired equipment. Looking ahead, Dima stated “We’re planning additional investments in next-generation machinery and an expansion of our production floor to support continued growth. With this momentum, we’re optimistic about adding new team members in 2026.”
