NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions Regional Managers can help you find a talented engineering student intern this summer for $15 an hour in rural counties of North Carolina. NC State University College of Engineering will supplement the intern pay with an additional $10 per hour, plus a participation stipend. This financial support will make the internship opportunity at your facility competitive with urban areas in the state to attract the top candidates. You will receive ongoing support from your Regional Manager and Rural Works! staff in creating and sustaining the position.
Anna Mangum, NC State University Industry Expansion Solutions Regional Manager, will share all the details of the Rural Works! Internship Program from her years of experience with previous intern successes. Anna will provide what you can expect and what you must do to participate.
Rural Works! was created by a partnership between the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, the Office of Outreach and Engagement, and NC State Extension.

Anna serves as the NC State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES) regional manager for south central region including Chatham, Lee, Harnett, Johnston, Moore, Sampson, Wake and Wilson counties. Anna has a diverse private and public industry background in which she has worked with manufacturers, healthcare and government in support of economic development. Prior to her role as regional manager, Anna led North Carolina’s Sustainable Manufacturing Program, E3: Economy, Energy, Environment. This effort worked across 24 North Carolina communities and 52 manufacturers generating over $29 million in economic impact and growing 270 manufacturing jobs. E3 NC was recognized as a leading manufacturing support program by The White House and US Department of Commerce and was adopted by many states across the nation. Anna also served IES as an EHS Specialist, delivering on-site services and training including Lean and green techniques, ISO 14001 and a variety of occupational health and safety classes. Anna has a B.S. in environmental technology, with minors in environmental toxicology and environmental science from NC State University.
