Michael (Mac) McNulty is an authorized OSHA Trainer for general industry and teaches numerous OSHA courses for NC State Industry Expansion Solutions (IES), including industrial hygiene, combustible dust, and confined space entry. He provides hazardous waste operations, emergency response (HAZWOPER) and incident spill response education, training, exercise evaluations and program development to North Carolina businesses and local, state and federal agencies. Mac has provided initial and refresher training to the HazMat spill teams at many NC manufacturers, saving them $250,000 to $5 million in insurance costs. He coordinates and evaluates customized spill drills as part of annual refresher training. He has also instructed DOT HazMat Transportation training for a variety of audiences. Mac has more than 25 years experience in chemistry, safety and health and remediation/emergency response. He developed and managed environmental health and safety programs for a paper coatings and inks business, automotive after-market chemical products company, a metal fabrication manufacturer and an environmental remediation company. Mac has created and trained spill response teams, trained and supervised remediation field crews, applied for and maintained a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit, and managed and disposed of solid and hazardous wastes. Mac had over 10 years of experience developing and delivering training classes for past employers prior to joining IES. Mac has A.A.S. in chemical technology (1981) from SUNY Agricultural &Technical College and a B.S. in hazardous materials management (1991).
