OSHA 2255 Principles of Ergonomics

Subtitle: Industrial Ergonomics Process Workshop – This class is offered through the Ergonomics Center of NC and you earn OSHA 2255 credit by taking this workshop.

$1800/$1350 for members (please reach out to the Ergonomics Center for information on government and member discounts)

4 Days, 30 Instructional Hours
30 MESH Hours – Manager of Environmental Safety and Health – EHS
30 Professional Development Hours for Engineers – PDH

This course is eligible for credit towards the Safety & Health Fundamentals Certificate.

About This Event:
This course covers the use of ergonomic principles to recognize, evaluate, and control work place conditions that cause or contribute to musculoskeletal and nerve disorders.  At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to assess the work environment for the prevention of work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSD). This course emphasizes general industry case studies covering analysis and design of work stations and equipment, laboratory sessions in manual lifting, and coverage of current OSHA compliance policies.

 

Recommended for:
Environmental, safety and health managers and employees expanding their knowledge of ergonomics; plant and facility engineers, maintenance staff or ergonomics team members responsible for workstation design.

 

Participants will:
  • Identify work-related musculoskeletal and nerve disorders
  • Describe risk factors associated with work-related musculoskeletal and nerve disorders
  • Apply basic principles of workstation design
  • Describe lifting and NIOSH measurement techniques
  • Recognize OSHA’s policy on ergonomics
  • Describe control methods for specific industries
  • Describe the components of a successful ergonomics program
Topics include:
  • Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders
  • Physiology and Anthropometry
  • Physical Stressors in the Workplace
  • Workstation and task layout
  • NIOSH and various lifting measurement techniques
  • Effective ergonomics program criteria
Additional Information:
Some math will be required—participants will need calculators with basic functions.
