A Letter from the Director

It’s a New Season—A Perfect Opportunity to Learn Something New

When the seasons change, I am always reminded to focus on new areas of emphasis. In the fall, I monitor traffic reports and watch for children as they board their school buses. I am drawn to the National Weather Service to monitor the weather and prepare for tropical storm and hurricane activity. And, I seek out new information to keep my professional skills current and relevant.

Our staff has recently embraced a new focus from OSHA on the subject of chemical management. While tens of thousands of chemicals—many of which are suspected to be harmful—are in use every day, only a small number are regulated in the workplace. A process to transition to safer chemicals allows an employer using and managing chemicals to consider eliminating the hazard at the source. Join us for OSHA #7225 on the riverfront in downtown Wilmington on October 3, 2016 for an interactive discussion on this seven-step process. The low rate of $59 is a seasonal bargain.

The fall season is also the time to post our 2017 OSHA Course Schedule. We hope that you find an educational opportunity meaningful for your career goals in the coming year.

I’m interested to hear about your areas of focus as the season changes. Drop me a note, I would love to hear from you!
