Never Stop Learning

Lifelong learning is inherent to the career of a safety professional. Identifying improved personal protective equipment, obtaining updated monitoring devices with improved technology and continually reviewing OSHA standards for updates or guidance is part of our daily work.

Don’t forget to learn about the new OSHA rule for electronic submission of injury and illness records that takes effect on January 1, 2017. OSHA also anticipates publishing the final version of the revised Safety and Health Program Management Guidelines this summer, so be sure to check their website periodically for this update.

Speaking of new material, we are excited to offer a course that is brand new to North Carolina, OSHA #2055 Cranes in Construction. You might consider learning about these important requirements whether or not you have direct responsibility for crane safety at your site. We all can contribute to the prevention of a crane accident by learning safe operating procedures and how to spot potential hazards.

In 2011, U.S. health care personnel experienced seven times the national rate of musculoskeletal disorders compared with all other private-sector workers.
